Billioanire kidnapper, Evans, pleads guilty to kidnapping charges

Billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, otherwise known as Evans, has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and kidnapping. He was arraigned before the Ikeja High Court in Lagos this morning. Evans and five others were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping. The judge ordered that all the male defendants be remanded at Kirikiri Maximum Prison while the female defendant, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, be kept at the Kirikiri Female Prison. The case was adjourned till October 19th.

ASUU, VCs, NANS Kick Against JAMB 2017 Cut-off Marks

Report has it that Vice- Chancellors and the Academic Staff Union of Universities have rejected the cut-off mark of marks set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. It would be recalled that JAMB two days ago announced cut-off mark of 120 for universities and 100 for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education. ASUU has described this as a “sad policy decision, ” saying it was in tandem with the dream of the present government to destroy public universities in the country . Vice Chancellors who have commented on this have maintained that they would not lower admission standards in their respective varsities . According to them, the decision would add no value to the nation’ s university system. Statement issued Monday by the Niger State Police Command: On 26/08/2017 at about 2100hrs, following a sustained monitoring by IGP Special Tactical Squad attached to Niger State Police Command two notorious ritualists were arrested in possession of human head of one Hassan Abubakar "m" of Bakajeba Paiko L.G.A . The suspects Abdulrasheed Aminu "m" 22yrs old of Lupa and Ismaila Mohammed "m" 27 old of makera all confessed that they cut off the head with use two sharped knife and one of the suspect Ibrahim surname yet unknown of Paiko L.G.A still at large. The father of the victim one Abubakar Shuaib said that his son was last seen on Saturday 26/08/2017 taking a kettle of water from the house to give an unknown person waiting outside and since then he was nowhere to be found, until he heard that Police arrested suspects with human head and he identified the victim as his son. ASUU To Meet With FG Once Again Before Deciding Whether To Call-off Strike.

There are indications that the Academic Staff Union of Universities may meet with the Federal Government this week over the ongoing strike by the union. The union had earlier over the weekend to decode whether or not to call off the strike. The FG had during the meeting with ASUU leadership in Abuja offered to pay N23bn and a monthly payment of N1.5bn pending the outcome of the forensic audit being carried out by the Ministry of Finance. According to a source, “The ASUU meeting which held last Saturday at UniAbuja discussed the offers made by the government and whether the strike should be called off on the basis of the offers made by the government. “It was decided that ASUU might seek an audience with the government this week to negotiate further concessions before the strike is called off.”
